she wasn't really sure how she was able to sneak out of camp so late, but somehow, the she-cat was seated upon the river bank. the crystalline liquid flowed over her white paws, slow, and steady, oblivious to the predator sitting on its shore. there was a smile etched upon her face, and her large almond shaped pools reflected the light of the moon as she stared up at it. the amount of stars in the sky seemed nigh impossible, but she knew that starclan knew no bounds. the glory of the cats of the stars never ceased to amaze her, and while her favourite time of day was when the first breaths of morning peeked over the river, she couldn't deny the pull that the moon and stars had upon her. there was no time more peaceful than the dead of the night, when the world around her slept, save for a lone owl calling somewhere deep within thunderclan territory.
it sent a shiver down her spine,, knowing that owls could snatch kits from the safety of the territory and carry them off. taking a deep breath, she tried to shake the feeling off that that owl could potentially come and swoop down, and pick her up. no one knew where she was -at least not that she knew of- so if she wound up being carried away, the clan would have no clue where she left. her heart started to race, and her breath became fast and shallow. maybe this wasn't the best idea.
it's okay, lilypaw. you're safe. the tiny voice in her head chirped up out of nowhere, and she found herself calming down ever so slightly. tearing her eyes away from the sky, she turned her pale yellow orbs to the river at her paws. the rhythm of the water beating against her paws soothed her, and soon the she-cat forgot about her worries about the owl. a shimmer of silver flashed in the corner of her left eye, and a breath later the scales of a fish flew by her, following the current. a thought crossed her mind, and she tilted her head to the side, pupils dilating with concentration. would it be inappropriate to fish at this time of night? the she-cat had only had a handful of training sessions dedicated to fishing, but she was confident that she could catch one if she tried hard enough, and kept her focus.
completely committing herself to the idea, she stared into the water without blinking, hoping that another silvery fish would float by lazily.

WHITEWIND x - kit - apprentice - warrior - x
Stunning blue eyes glinted with the shine of the stars above the she-cat in silverpelt, her long body pushing through the protective reeds that guarded the peripheral region of the camp. Sleepless nights clung to the golden cat since her kit hood, usually a walk would settle her mind and tire her limbs. She padded thoughtlessly through the night, the soft night breeze calming her tense body that had been taught with the worries of coming conflict between the clans.
Stopping in her tracks with her gaze held high looking at the shining sky with her ears perked, twitching at the gentle rustle nearby. Releasing her jaw to scent the air, her head turned in the direction of the strong scent with her eyes wide with disbelief and curiousity. Following the strong scent trail finding Lilypaw at the end of it with her eyes focused on the river, Whitewind moved quietly toward her with her short tail held straight and firm behind her.
"You'll struggle to catch a fish with your paws already in the water and reflection hanging in front of you." she mewed softly to announce her presence. "Unless you weren't catching fish." she mewed with a hint of amusement in her voice. "Though, you should be in your nest safe in camp." she mewed firmly, though she had no intentions of sending the apprentice back to camp immediately - understand the desire to wander through the territory in the dead of night. "I suppose you can catch a few fish for the clan before you return for your disobedience." she mewed - dipping her head at the clear river.

while it was true that the lithe calico had the raw material to be an excellent hunter and fisher, what didn't come naturally for the she-cat was the ability to multi-task. in this case? paying attention to the water while at the same time listening for the imminent approach of one of her clanmates. had she been listening, the outcome of whitewind's approach would've been vastly different. even so, lilypaw was in for a surprise. with her almond shaped eyes focused so intently on the water, it was not until the feminine voice reached her ears that lilypaw was even aware that someone was coming towards her.
the effect, was instantaneous. it was as if the older cat had prodded her with her paw in the hind end. her claws unsheathed, her tail puffed out to twice its normal size and she let out a squeak of surprise, while leaping into the air and out of the water. if it was the owl that she had been thinking about earlier, she was in big trouble. shaking, and too terrified to look at what was there, she was certain that it was the owl coming to snatch her away and eat her guts. squeezing her eyes shut, she began praying to starclan for a quick and painless death. however, confusion made her eyes snap open as the owl spoke. owls can't speak you mousebrain! finding truth in this thought, she turned to the source of the voice and her light green gaze came to rest upon a striking blue one. whitewind! she thought with relief. wait, this wasn't over. what if whiewind took her back to face swanstar? would swanstar banish her from the clan for being out of her nest so late at night. calm down. she growled at herself before smiling sheepishly up at the warrior.
"I- I-- I wasn't trying to fish." she stammered, trying to find her voice after having been terrified nearly out of her pelt. "no one fishes in the dark. that's just stupid." scoffing, she flicked her tail slightly. whitewind didn't need to know that she had been trying to fish. because, actually fishing and trying to fish were two very different things in the young apprentice's mind, so she wasn't technically lying. "I couldn't sleep! I-I-- I had a nightmare!" she blurted out before she could stop herself. there had been no nightmare, lilypaw never had nightmares. shoot. she groaned. "I mean, I just wanted to look at the stars..." she said, dropping her head as her voice trailed off at the end to nothing more than a whisper. she was done. she was sure of it.

"You weren't trying to fish, huh?" she mewed her voiced raised, "A good warrior knows how to hunt in the dark as well as the light." she mewed with a flick of her tail as if she were dismissing her frantic replies. Her large blue eyes staring at the she-cat as she continued on her ramble. "A nightmare huh?" she replied with her usually calm voice in response to the obvious lie whilst giving no indication if she would bother herself in scolding the younger cat. Sitting down and pulling her unusually short tail around her paws as if she were protecting herself from the gentle breeze of the night.
"You shouldn't lie." she mewed sternly after she stopped talking, her ice cold gaze locked onto the apprentice who clearly assumed she would receive punishment. "Starclan will always be able to see the truth, there is no point in hiding it from any other cat. Be confident in your decisions," she mewed, her voice still firm and her body held high making her seem bigger than she actually was. "Even if your decisions are foolish and disobey your leaders words." Whitewind's tail unraveled to twitch lazily behind her. "But, I have never caught you doing wrong before, so we shall keep this little night adventure to ourselves, yes?"
Whitewind was hoping that the apprentices fear of being in trouble with Swanstar would keep her from talking about being found by a warrior by the lake under silver sky, she had planned on nobody knowing that she had left the warriors den that sleepless night. Her eyes softened as she turned her head upward to look at the twinkling stars that layered the clear sky above them as she slowly slid into a relaxed lying position with her lay curled neatly around her body.

as soon as whitewind spoke, she felt about two inches tall. there was something in her voice that made lilypaw want to go crawl back into her nest and never come back out. the volume had rose, and she wondered if she had offended the warrior by her comment about fishing in the dark. lilypaw had never considered that other cats would've thought to hunt by the light of the moon, and that one of those cats could be whitewind. her head started to nod frantically as the cat questioned her comment about the nightmares. did whitewind believe her?! no one ever believed her, but if she did, then that meant that she was becoming a better liar.
that thought was quickly squashed as whitewind simply stated that she shouldn't lie. she dropped her eyes to her paws and she felt her ears grow hot as the warriors words flooded over her, making her feel even smaller than she already was. whitewind's gaze was far too intense for the inexperienced apprentice to challenge, and she didn't want to get into anymore trouble than she already was. she was stupid to think that she could ever possibly get away with lying. never had she been able to get away with lying. the last of the she-cats words were lost upon the apprentice who was already thinking of the worst case scenario of her punishment.
"huh?" she said loudly, bringing her gaze back up to meet the warriors icy blue gaze. "i mean, i don't think i heard you correctly.." shuffling her paws, she tried to figure out how to say what she wanted to say. if she said the wrong thing, then she would definitely be going for a visit to swanstar's den. the thought terrified her and excited her at the same time. "you're not gonna take me to swanstar?" her voice was quiet, nothing more than a whisper, as if speaking any louder would change whitewind's mind. her eyes were wide with amazement, and her body trembled ever so slightly. "do you really mean that? i'm not in trouble?" her voice became louder, if only slightly and a touch of a smile began to creep onto her features.

Whitewind stared at the apprentice confused, must she repeat herself to with bundle of nerves? with a sigh her turn her gaze to the she-cat, "No. You won't be visiting Swanstar this night." she mewed sternly her gaze still ice cold as she addressed Lilypaw. "I'm telling you now though, if you step one paw out of camp at night ever again without permission before you get you're warrior name, Swanstar will be having words with you and not me." she hissed, attempting to scare the apprentice into obeying her warning. "An inexperienced apprentice like yourself fighting off a rogue alone? You'd never stand and chance with so little training." she began, mild concern laced within her harsh words.
"How do you think the clan would feel to find you injured or worse the next morning?" her eyes returned to the stars with a single blink. "Not only should you be more careful with yourself, it's inconsiderate to not think about how your actions could effect those around you." her voice softened as she spoke, no longer a hiss but a calm tone was used by the siamese as if she were remembering something from the past - her voice trailed off into silence. The glistening stars reflected in her eyes as her body remained still but relaxed as the memory of her mothers stories about rogues killing cats one by one when they were alone in their territories at night - she didn't know if these were just tales to scare a kit or true. Either way, she didn't want Lilypaw taking any chances.
Glancing back at Lilypaw, "Swanstar wouldn't leave you with no punishment, I hope you don't take advantage of my kindness and continue to disobey." she mewed sternly, but there was no real strength in her words after the exhausting task that is scolding a young cat from their bad behaviour. "Though I wasn't saying you're not in trouble, I've got my eye on you now." she mewed with her eyes shining with kindness, she'd given this apprentice enough of a rough time for the night. With an apprentice of her own, Whitewind knew she'd have no trouble keeping Lilypaw out of trouble not that she spent more time around the typical apprentice hang outs searching for her apprentice.

lilypaw was not a fan of the way that whitewind was looking at her. she knew that look all to well and that look meant she was going to get an earful. she hated getting yelled out. she winced as whitewind let loose, her words cutting her like knives. lilypaw began to tremble even more, and she dropped her gaze once more. she couldn’t look at whitewind, couldn’t see the warrior that was giving her grief. lilypaw knew that the she-cat’s words would be forgotten come the next night – lilypaw never listened to anything that anyone ever said. right now though, she was terrified and vow that she would never break the rules again. closing her eyes, she nodded her head.
“I know it was stupid! but but but—" she stopped as whitewind began speaking again. lilypaw had already thought of that outcome, dismissed it and moved on. but hearing it from whitewind just made it all the more real. she knew that sometimes she could overthink things, silly things, mostly things that others would consider insignificant. most of the time they would tell her to just stop thinking, but if whitewind had been thinking the same thing as her, then it wasn’t an insignificant thing. now the calico really wanted to be back in her nest. she wished that she had never taken the late night stroll, and she wished that whitewind had never found her either. her large eyes creeped back up to look at whitewind as her voice softened, and she stopped trembling. “I’m sorry… I wasn’t thinking.” she mumbled under her breath, kicking a pebble away into the water. she quickly looked away again as whitewind’s piercing gaze found her own scared one. nodding her head as whitewind finished speaking, she gave the older warrior a sheepish, apologetic smile.
“I won’t take your kindness for granted, I swear!” she said with determination, and she tried to make her gaze fierce to look like she was really serious, but it came out as more of a grimace than anything else. “whitewind…” she started, not sure where she was going with it, but there had been something prickling in the back of her mind. “why are you up this late? i-I mean could you not sleep?” she asked innocently, nervous once again about the whole situation. “it’s kind of hypocritical to give me trouble when you’re out of the camp yourself.” her mouth spoke without thinking. oh well, too late now. whitewind had told her to own up to her decisions. maybe not apologizing for the outburst would earn the she-cats respect.

W H I T E W I N D x - warrior - x The she-cat sat with her amusement disguised by a neutral expression as the apprentice rambled her apologies with a worried tone she couldn't tell was sincere or note. Whitewind curled her tail around her paws as she watched the apprentice with a calm expression, with vague exhaustion lurking behind her eyes. She knew that she would've get into trouble for leaving the camp to calm her mind, or at least she hoped she wouldn't be as she had never been reprimanded before as a warrior. She turned her soft blue gaze to the lake as it lapped silently against the levee that rose higher protecting their territory from a flood, zoning out the apprentice and her apologetic tone. Whitewind had always appreciated the flow of the river and how the stars reflected so perfectly on it's surface while the silver fish created distorted shapes beneath the ripples as they swam with grace past the stones that have been eroded into a perfect smooth oval now bumping along the river bed with the strength of the river.
The she cat was brought away from her thoughts as the apprentice spoke with confidence that made her oddly proud of the younger cat, it was common for apprentices to blurt out the first things that came into their minds - it was amusing and something she missed being able to do now that she was a warrior and any trouble she caused couldn't be brushed off as a foolish apprentices mistake. "it’s kind of hypocritical to give me trouble when you’re out of the camp yourself." a purr of amusement rumbled deep with her chest as he turned to look at the cat again with a humorous expression. "I simply couldn't sleep, I wish I had a more interesting story to tell you, but I just couldn't sleep and didn't want to wake Russetfur or Foxpaw for poppy seeds." she mewed softly, turning slightly so she was angled more toward the apprentice in an elegant sitting position. "Though, I'm allowed out of camp because I'm not an apprentice." she mewed, flicking the apprentices shoulder with her short tail "You have some courage to call me a hypocrite after you were just in trouble." she purred softly as her gaze returned to the blue toned river as it reflected to starry night sky.
