S P O T T E D P A W x - apprentice - x The small she cat woke quietly to the warmth of the typical sunny day of Greenleaf. The sun leaked through the gaps in the brambles the tangled around the entrance to act like armor, protecting the apprentices with it's sharp thorns that stuck out. Spottedpaw lay in her moss nest, her tail pressed against her nose as her eyes opened, blinking her eyes quickly to adjust the dim light in the apprentice den. Lifting her body up with great effort so she was sitting up, she scanned the den now less cramped with Emberstrike in the warriors den but still full enough that Spottedpaw would have to carefully plan her exit to allow her to leave without waking her den mates. She looked toward Emberstrikes old moss den, yet to be removed, with an obvious want burn in her eyes - two more moons until she'd be of age to become a warrior, her speckled pelt burned with excitement and her tail flicked against her paws at the though of finally being a warrior. Even with herself and Honeypaw being the only remaining apprentices, the den was still too cramped for her liking.
Spottedpaw gingerly put a paw outside her moss nest, careful to place it in between Honeypaw's sprawled out limbs, the other cat seem to take up most of the den with her legs alone with how she had stretched out during the night. With a roll of her eyes Spottedpaw continued with a few jumps until she was at the bramble entrance, pushing her lithe body through the sharp entrance with a certain grace. The ginger marking her tortoiseshell pelt seemed to glow in the morning light, this had been the earliest Spottedpaw had woken since she became an apprentice, the small she-cat padded a quietly through the silent camp toward the freshkill pile. She assumed Howlingstar and his warriors were already awake and beginning their patrols. The small cat sat in the sandy clearing, pulling her brown tipped tail around her paws as if she were protecting herself for the danger that wasn't there. Tensions were high in the camp since the battle ended, many of the camp wanted to seek out revenge which confused the apprentice, but she didn't dare to concentrate on anything other that her training.
She moved closer to the pile, picking up a small mouse before taking it away to eat. She usually ate before she went training, unless it was hunting of course - she remembered the words of the warrior code in her mind concerning meals. She lay with the small creature clutched between her large fluffy paws, her tail curling around her hind legs bent to allow her to sit comfortably. She pulled at the meat of the rodent while her mind wandered to her mentor. It was unusual that Lionclaw hadn't woken her, maybe he had allowed her to sleep in? she recalled how reluctant her mentor had been to take her hunting, self conscious about his own skills although she didn't know any better until she went on a hunting patrol without the golden tom and learned more with the other warriors than her mentor in hunting. Though it seemed the larger tom had more skills in fighting than hunting. Spottedpaw had been slightly concerned at the idea of having a mentor only eight moons older than herself. Finishing her meal, she sat up glancing around the camp with curiousity waiting for Lionclaw to turn up.

The sun flowing through the trees made the world emerald green, beautiful sounds of life as greenleaf peaked. The wind blew downwind carrying the smell of prey and life. Life of the clan and a certain cat who's hunting skills were just dreadful. The world seemed to watch as if waiting for a funny joke. The smell of mouse and vole, bird, and Lionclaws favorite, Rabbit. His mouth drooled for that morning he awoken from a dream where he sat on top of a bounty of rabbits for his consumption. But he never partook unless he caught or help catch the delicious prey. Today however he was gonna change his luck. He had felt shame when his apprentice Spottedpaw had seen how the others hunted so well while he was lucky to catch an old mouse. No one had said anything though they did have every right to do so. If not for his skills as a fighter he would never be a warrior.
The world tunneld as he saw the rabbit eating, its focus on the seeds and not the golden cat. Lionclaw knew it would hear him before it smelled or saw him and he never catch a rabbit in a speed chase. Bending down, he felt his body and cursed inward. He was better then this, he was a cat and cats hunt. Rolling his thick shoulders he moved as silent as a ghost. All his energy, skill, concentration on this rabbit. He imagined the pride in his apprentices eyes if he could just come back with this rabbit. Breathing in, he stopped as the rabbit sat up and swiveled its ears. Listening as it always did. Lionclaw held his breath and kept his body low. So close...so close. Tge rabbit turned and went back to its seeds. Lionclaw moved silently until he was close. Bunching his powerful leg muscles he leaped and landed on the rabbit. A killer bite to the back of the throat and the rabbit died without a sound. Pride and hope for himself as a well rounded warrior flowed through him. Grabbing the fat rabbit he hefted it up and turned back to camp.
Lionclaw strolled into camo held head high as the rabbit hung from his powerful jaws. Large paws seeming to have a little jolt in there step. He spotted his apprentice spottedpaw and flicked his eyes down to the rabbit hanging there. Walking over he dropped it at his apprentices paws and sat down. A tower over the much smaller cat and smiled wide. "You hungry Spottedpaw?" he had a playful gleam in his eye as he pushed the rabbit towards his apprentice. "Caught it all by myself." ok yes he was acting a bit like a first time apprentice but he felt really proud of this feat. He swore it would be the first of many and he would teach his apprentice. He took a bite, feeling the warm flesh and hot blood in his mouth. It even tasted sweeter with it being caught by him. "Now, once we eat it's to the stone hollow for your warrior skills. Then we are going on a patrol." his confidence was on cloud nine right now.

S P O T T E D P A W x - apprentice - x The speckled ears swiveled around at the sound of rustling as a large cat pushed through the camp entrance with a proud stance clutching a limp rabbit between his large jaws. She watched as her mentor strutted over to her with the rabbit dangling from his jaws as if he was still an apprentice who had just made his first successful catch. Embarrassment burned through her pelt making the thick coat feel uncomfortable, she must've been the only apprentice who had such a young mentor who could rarely make a catch. Her tail twitched as he approached her, dropping the grey creature at her paws and even with a quick glance at the creature she could tell it was a plump and good catch for the clan. Beneath her embarrassment the she-cat felt a small bit of pride for her mentor as he spoke to her with a new confidence she had never noticed before. "I just ate." she mewed with a respectful dip of her head as the large tom sat beside her. "But, congratulations of you catch!" she mewed with a sincere purr rumbling deep within her chest as her tail twitched slightly at the tip. She watched as the powerful jaws tore into the grey fur now matted with it's own blood and allowed her mind to venture off into her thoughts making her wonder if she would be sharing a meal with Oakpaw instead of her mentor if he still lived, her eyes looked down to the sandy earth while her mentor was distracted with his meal.
Spottedpaw jumped at the sound of his voice again, "Now, once we eat it's to the stone hollow for your warrior skills. Then we are going on a patrol." she turned her gentle green gaze onto her mentor with a nod of agreement at his plans, not that she was too interested in practicing her warrior skills that day as her muscles still ached from the last session. Even with the cat closer to the ground that usual he was still so much taller than the lithe she-cat, she admired his size almost equal to that of Howlingstars and equal to Emberstrikes. She wondered what made them grew to such a size, her family and most of the other cats seemed as small as mice standing side by side with them. She blinked up with focused eyes locked onto his flame toned pelt with awe, he was a big and strong warrior who made her proud to be his apprentice - when he wasn't hunting of course. The small she-cat twisted her body, remembering she hadn't cleaned her pelt after her sleep making it stick up in odd directions clinging to pieces of moss from her nest. Leaning her head back allowing her to grasp at the moss on her back before dropping it quickly on the ground and smoothing it down with a few licks - she repeated this a few times before sitting up straight. "I'm ready when you are." she mewed jumping to her paws in her usual bouncy style before stretching out her legs and already exhausted muscles in preparation for the training.

Lionclaw looked down at his apprentice as he finished off the rabbit. Licking his jaws he wiped the blood away. Standing up he gave his apprentice a playful flick with his tail. "No worries, Spottedpaw. This is just a memory test to see if you remember everything. Then we will spend the rest of the day on patrol then some hunting." he winked at her and headed for the stone hollow. Walking into the clearing he moved a few paces and suddenly rolled in the dirt and stone before jumping to his paws. His gaze rested on his apprentice. His paw slashed a line in the dirt right at his large paws. "First lesson, your job is to make me cross this line. My border to yours. Its a low tactic that gives you the right to "defend" your territory but effective. Whenever your ready."
Lionclaw remebered doing these exercises with his mentor Stormwind. Sadly a badger had taken his mentor and friend a moon back. Now Lionclaw was burning with the desire to pass on his memory with these skills he would teach his apprentice. He watched his apprentice with a eager smile. His gaze following her movements. His tail flicked back and forth and under his golden fur his muscles tensed as he waited.

S P O T T E D P A W
The multi coloured she-cat followed her large mentor down to the hollow, her wide green eyes looking at the familiar plants that lead the way to the training area, the large brambles that seemed to act as armor for nearly everything in Thunderclan. She admired the pointed plant with the strength to keep predators out which the small beautiful plants lacked, even yarrow with it's strength to remove everything from the stomach was flimsy and easily crushed, she could not think of anything stronger than the brambles with it's strong stems littered with sharp spikes. She was lost in thought before she noticed they were at the hollow, she slipped in quietly and gracefully padding after the golden tabby tom leading the way. His voice seemed to echo throughout the hollow as she watched with curiousity whilst he created the deep line in the ground with a sharp talon like claw. Although Spottedpaw admired her mentor like any other apprentice of Thunderclan would, she had to admit his methods were a bit strange even to her imaginative mind.
She watched with green eyes as he began speaking, "First lesson, your job is to make me cross this line." Spottedpaw let out a sigh, she knew her strengths were in her speed with her lithe body not allowing her to develop such brute strength. She flicked her tail with a nervous expression marking her face knowing that although this may have seemed like a simple task to her mentor, it was a challenge to the small she-cat. Her eyes followed the golden tom as he got into a wide stance prepared for a blow, his muscles rippling under the thick pelt with each movement. Spottedpaw stood taking deep breaths before leaning down toward the ground with her haunches bent ready to spring forward, she remembered her training taking a wide stance his her paws dug into the ground and tail curled underneath her body managing to keep her perfect balance. The tortoiseshell pounced forward looking that tom directly into his eye before jumping to the right of him and slamming her body as hard as she could with her should leading the way into his side, attempting to put him out of balance before attempting to grab his scruff and pull across the line, though with her weaker build she didn't expect to be able to do it. 'Well, that's why I'm training.' she thought.

Lionclaw looked at his young apprentice, full of the same awe he felt about the clan. The sharp brambles that protected and bound their clan together, the stone hollow where warrior taught apprentice for moons and moons. The fresh kill pile where cats had ate and shared tongues for as long as any cat could remember. The pride of the warriors den, the nervousness of the apprentice den. The milky memory of the nursery and the sweet herb smells of the medicine den. All things that made Thunderclan great was its history. Lionclaw would fight to his last to protect that history. His eyes focused back on his apprentice. Spottedpaw had so much to give to the clan. She was fast, smart, creative and brave. Though the mentor and apprentice were so different. Lionclaw liked fighting while Spottedpaw seemed to enjoy hunting. His rush came from the fever of battle and the power within. Hers it seemed came from stalking prey and feeding her clan. He was proud for already she had surpassed him. She was truly a clan cat bent on others. Lionclaw had never been so proud of anything. But her fighting skills left so much to be desired. His gaze watched her and felt disappointment flood through his paws as she attacked.
The golden tom didn't watch her eyes but her chest. As she leaped to the side, he took a quick jump back. The young apprentice flying right in front of him. He stepped forward, a paw on each side as he stood over her looking down. "You broke the warrior code Spottedpaw. You attacked another cat on his side of the border. The lesson was to get them over to your side so you would be justified in attacking them. Also, look at our size difference. You never would have had the strength to move me. Instead you would be trapped like this with a warrior eager to rip you open. Now, try again and this time make Me step over the line. One paw is all you need to make me pay." He stepped back behind the line, taking a seat he watched her with his Amber gaze. His tail flicking back and forth as he measured his apprentice. "You will never be as strong as me Spottedpaw. But your quick, your inventive, clever. But one day you will meet a cat who is all those things. It's my job to make sure your prepared for that day. Show me the fierce attitude in your heart. Your a Thunderclan cat, show me the strength in that name!" His claws slid out, his hackles rising as he let out a hiss that he used against full warriors. His tail swaying back and forth. His thick chest stretched with the powerful muscle in his massive body. "Bait me! "

S P O T T E D P A W Spottedpaw stumbled over landing on her side with her own force, rolling over in a swift movement so she was returned to her strong paws with a defiant green gaze placed on her golden mentor, her tail flicked irritated that she missed him by only a hair. Her gaze hardened as she pushed her weight up onto her four paws looking up at the tom as he spoke of her breaking the warrior code, her tail flicked with anger. "How dare he! I wouldn't ever cross a border without permission!" she thought with a fiery rage burning deep within her stomach, "This is just his mouse brained idea of a good lesson in fighting." she thought with a scowl ignoring her mentors harsh tone by being too busy dealing with her anger she felt toward his words. "I could hunt circles around him." her gaze was mean but determined, using her anger as her energy as she padded away from him with a dismissive flick of her tail toward his words.
His hiss made her flatten her ears, worsening her mood already. She returned his hiss with a loud ferocious noise even Howlingstar himself would be proud of, her claws reluctantly stayed sheathed as she tried to keep her mind clear so she could figure out what in Starclan she was supposed to do. "How in the name of Starclan do you expect me to bait you? Who would I be baiting, ever?" she hissed furiously, turning on her mentor with her her tail lashing at this unusual training session. "You're no dog! I can't bait you with fresh kill." she mewed stepping forward with confidence and anger, she didn't care if she would get in trouble for her outrage - she had no idea what she was supposed to be doing. Spottedtail was not the kind of cat to purposely antagonise another clan cat or any cat for that matter, she was kind and understanding toward every situation though her vision has been blurred with the loss of territory. "Is this some sort of plan to train me in a way to get Shadowclan to cross our borders so we can fight them?" she mewed with a stiff voice, her temper calming slightly. "I don't want to fight this way, I don't want to bait cats into a battle." her voice was firm, reluctant to take part in any idea of baiting other cats feeling it went against the warrior code and expressed bad form. Her body remained tense with a glare that would scare a kit as she looked at the golden warrior directly in the eye with a defiant expression on her dappled face.

Lionclaw watched his apprentice with a smirk, finally she was standing her ground and pushing back. The golden tom winked and stepped over the line and leaned down butting her head with his softly. "Good job Spottedpaw. I'm proud of you. No warrior should ever break the warrior code, I have never baited another cat into a battle and I'm glad to see you won't ever either." his voice was gentle and compassionate. His Amber gaze resting on her. "We have enough sorrows without unnecessary bloodshed. I admit this lesson seemed harsh and mean but it's one I will give to any apprentice that trains under me. You did very well. Now, we are going to work on your speed and quick thinking." his tail twitched as he leaped back. Landing, he slid into a perfect hunters crouch. His tail swaying side to side as he locked eyes with his apprentice. "Now focus here, you did very well in using your eyes as a distraction. But the obvious mistake was what you were doing. Look at your opponent right in the eyes and then attack."
His amber gaze locked with his aporentice. The large tom began a half circle movement around her. Slowly, making sure she could follow him then picked up the pace. Moving his body faster and making her watch him. He suddenly rushed forward, raising a paw like a strike. His hind legs pushed off the ground. Into the air he turned and landed behind her. Lunging down with his large paws in a attempt to grab her with his big paws.

S P O T T E D P A W Her eyes followed the larger as he leaned over her, refusing to flinch she held her ground only to realise that her mentor was giving her a nudge on her head. As soon as the golden fur met the multi coloured head Spottedpaw felt her anger fade away as the calm and kind energy of her mentor washed over her. She felt no regret for her words and wouldn't apologize for her out burst, but she dared not repeat it any time soon. His words of praise came to her as a shock as she leaned away with narrowed eyes meeting the calm amber gaze with surprise, she was sure the golden tom would reprimand her for her rude display but it had no come. Spottedpaw now looked at her mentor with admiration for his ability to keep a calm mind and hoped he would some day teach her how to master her temper that seemed to spiral out of control at times.
She watched as the broad tom moved away slipping easily into an admirable hunting crouch his eyes focused on her, tail moving in a repetitive motion behind him creating small winds moving the weeds growing from the soft ground. Her eyes blinked through a narrowed gaze moving back to where she had been standing originally with moons of advice echoing through her mind. Spottedpaw wasn't a bad fighter, she was quick and smart but against brute force she seemed to have a bad record - it was good that her mentor was large and strong able to help her with her obvious faults. Spottedpaw pressed her chest to the ground with her rump raised slightly higher with a long tail moving against the dusty ground, her paws were tinted grey with dirt as she scanned her opponent efficiently her ears perked for any sound he might make. The lithe she-cat knew that she would have no chance with a direct attack against the broad tom, though her mind worked quick she could rarely figure a way around the muscle that often stopped her in her tracks before she could do any damage to the golden tom. Her tail flicked in annoyance while her mind worked at a rapid pace trying to figure out what in the name of Starclan she was supposed to do. Her claws pulled at the ground with her eyes locked onto amber, before sheathing her claws in a swift movement.
The smaller cat slid forward with incredible speed making her appear like a snake making it's way toward it's prey, she held eye contact careful to hide her intentions thinking of his advice. Spottedpaw crouched slightly to the left of her mentor with large paws extended as she used all of her force to knock is fore paws out of balance, if he tried to dodge she would continue her plan in getting him off balance by continuing in a swift movement by kicking her hind legs into his with an incredible force before attempting to put all her strength in one shoulder, the jumping into his side hopefully with his balanced disturbed he'd be unable to dodge and would hopefully fall and declare her the victor. Her mind raced through the movements, adrenaline make her heart beat with a satisfying speed, her jaw tingling slightly with her pressed firmly against her head in the moment of attack.
