The breeze was cool as it hit the dark pelt making the leader shiver slightly as he moved easily out of the bramble protected nest, the cold green gaze flickered out onto the camp shielded with the thick plant making the camp look dark at it's perimeter with dots of the gentle sunshine from the beginning of leaf fall. Crunchy leaves littered the ground brightening up the dull toned floor with it's bright colours of red and orange. The camp was silent, few warriors lay silently in the clearing looking tired and word out, patrols had been doubled on his orders in attempts to warn off the Thunderclan cats who would most likely attempt to storm their newly gained territory. His broad head turned to look up at the hazel branch that sat at a perfect height for addressing his clan, the dark wood curved slightly in a syncline. The black cat moved swiftly toward it before bending his hind legs in preparation for the jump up on to the branch. He pushed himself up into the air with obvious ease, gripping onto the wood with large claws before hooking his hind legs onto the branch and pushing himself up in one quick motion.
Sitting with his chest pushed out making him appear as the authoritative figure that he is with a long matted tail coiled around his paws in attempt to keep them warm against the cool breeze that brought the new season on it's back. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here!" his voice rang out through the camp as he called his warriors. It was time for the oldest kit of the clan to become an apprentice, Whirlkit, an odd tom, quiet and reserved unlike any other kit he had met during his time in Shadowclan. He had chosen Addernose to mentor the kit without guidance from Brackenshade, he only hoped the deputy would approve of his choice and would not be offended for not being consulted on the matter. He knew Addernose was young enough to remember what it is to be a kit or an apprentice, filled with excitement and aware of the joys of life with the clans and he wanted that knowledge to be passed on to Whirlkit. He watched with a calm expression as warriors gathered below him for the meeting with burning curiousity, Raggedstar sat silently until all cats had gathered with cold green eyes scanning the camp for the appearance of every cat.

BrackenshadeThe deputy was eating a squirrel when he heard movement. His ears swivels to pinpoint it and found it came from Raggedstar's den. Brackenshade crunched on the bones of his prey and finished it up, leaving nothing behind. He licked is maw and sat up, stretching. The tabby feline wanted to eat before setting up patrols since he got up earlier than normal. The tom turned to look at his leader and watched him make his way to the leader's perch, quickly realizing that there was to be a clan meeting before the black tom even spoke. Brackenshade watched Raggedstar settle onto the branch, feeling confused, and even hurt, that Raggedstar hadn't spoken to him beforehand. The brown tabby slowly padded over, wanting to speak with his leader, but the black tom spoke before Brackenshade reached him. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here!" Brackenshade frowned and stopped in front of Shadowclan's leader. Other cats were coming over and he wouldn't have any time to speak privately with Raggedstar. The only thing he could think of that the meeting could be for. Either about the upcoming battle with Thunderclan or Whirlkit was becoming an apprentice because he was now old enough. Brackenshade waited for the rest of the clan to come out, knowing that warriors closer to dens than he was, would wake up the rest of the clan. The striped deputy sat stewing, his tail tip lashing behind him, as his green eyes gave Raggedstar a look, his jaw set. He didn't like being out of the loop on things within the clan, but he figured Raggedstar must have a reason for leaving him out of it, but it still didn't make him happy. Lakepaw and SlatepawLakepaw and Slatepaw came out of the apprentices' den. Lakepaw yawned and they started toward the freshkill pile but then they heard their leader's words ring out through the camp. Both glanced from their leader to the freshkill pile and back again. Since there wasn't very many cats out right then and it would take a while for everyone to come out, so they hurried to get a piece of prey. They chose a small bird to share and carried it toward Raggedstar. The siblings settled down to eat it, taking turns to eat until it was all gone except a pile of feathers for bedding for the Queens and Elders. They could hear their other siblings coming out of the apprentice's den and the warrior's den. Even some of the kits came out with the Queens, sitting just outside of the Nursery. Lakepaw glanced over at Brakenshade. You could tell the deputy was unhappy and she glanced away before he could turn his cold gaze to her. Slatepaw just laid down, curling his paws beneath his body as his twin brother came over and sat next to him. Words || 490 Tagged || Raggedstar

[attr="class","blacks"] [attr="class","blacksw"] WHIRLKIT [attr="class","blackswa"] [attr="class","quote"]❝ [attr="class","notquote"]Shadowclan 0300 WORDS ;D | "There is a wild fire inside you," burning desire you can't extinguish. "Your crimson arrow rips through the twilight." This is the moment for war
Whirlkit was nibbling on a mouse right outside of the entrance to the nursery. The weather was clear at least, so he wasn't at any risk for going outside. He finished up the last mouthfuls of the fresh-kill, caught by a patrol that day. The slightly cooler weather was oddly comforting in contrast to the hot sun that felt like it would set his dark pelt on fire, even though his thin fur didn't do a quality job of protecting him from it. He couldn't imagine how a fully black cat like Raggedstar could stand the hottest days of greenleaf, whereas he was only partially dark brown and partially white.
He heard the leader's meeting call yowling through the camp, and had a good idea of what was high on the possibilities that would take place today. Whirlkit got to his paws and padded calmly towards the clearing. He saw other warriors and apprentices, tired from a day of heavy patrolling, and knew he would soon be doing the same, taking his first steps outside of the camp's boundaries to see the world outside. His meals might be self-caught. He would learn what it was to truly live as a clan cat. Whirlkit joined the other cats in gathering around beneath the hazelbranch, sitting near the edge with his usual expression of strange solemnity for his age. He already looked to be the size of an apprentice, a young cat, having lost many of the defining traits of a kit more than a moon ago. He couldn't help but let his gaze flicker around and wonder who his mentor would be. He just hoped it wouldn't be Rockettail. He could never in his lifetime grow to stand that warrior's personality. |

Moonshadow licked her jaws. She has the remains of a sparrow at her paws. There was feathers everywhere because she tended to be somewhat of a messy eater. But she didn't mind because sparrow was her favorite prey out of everything that you could catch in Shadowclan territory. It was rare to find in Shadowclan espically with the Thunderclan border pretty much off limits for hunting. She just then used her paws and started collecting the parts of the bird that she couldn't eat. She was scraping them into a pile. Leaning down she picked up the remains and headed across camp to the dirt place. She just squeezed her way in and then padded to the spot were all the other remains were. Setting them down she just then she squeezed back into camp. She found herself glancing towards the leader's den. She often found herself doing this. It was odd because it wasn't until recently that she started. She hoped that no one else in the clan had notice that she was watching the den so closely. She just then was surprised that when she looked she actually saw the large dark tom. Her amber eyes just watched as the tom moved with grace to address the clan. He looked powerful, it reminded her of Icestar slightly. She was just glad that the leader was back to himself.
Standing there for a few moments she just watched him until his voice rang out address in the clan. She just shook her head snapping out of her trance. She just blinked her amber eyes slightly and looked at her paws felling her pelt heat up with some embarrassment she then padded over to were the cats would gather. Moonshadow wasn't the cat to sit right up front and demand attention she tended to stick to the shadows. Wanting to be unseen. So she moved off to the left and sat down at what would be the edge of the crowd. She noticed that Brackenshade had a slight frown on his face. Moonshadow just shook her head at the deputy she couldn't imagine why Raggedstar would pick someone so serious. But then again Moonshadow thought the large brown tabby tom was a great warrior. Shadowclan did need that strength at the head of their clan and Brackenshade was perfect for that. She just then turned and looked up at the leader. She tilted her head and scanned him over once before asking herself. I wonder what the meeting is about. She just then glanced at the other cats that had gathered to see if she could get a clue from them. Thats when the warrior noticed a larger kit. It was Whirlkit she just then blinked her amber eyes and instantly knew that he was going to be made an apprentice today. She just frowned slightly for no reason and then curled her tail around her paws. Before taking her amber gaze and flicking up back at the leader.

Meadowsong - 503 Words Tags: SC cats Note: Brindle will come shortly. I'll post with her after a few more post.
Who would have thought that a cat's personality could change quicker than drop of a leaf during autumn? It was the perfect way to describe this she-cat. The warrior had been so kind and caring, and soft-spoken no more than six moons ago. But one event changed her entire life. It sent her down a spiral that continued to travel round and round. It was a moment unexpected, and unpredictable. The sweet and loving she-cat had turned aggressive and the emotion switch had shut off. She no longer cared what anyone though, or their opinions. Meadowsong was no longer peaceful and made everyone question her warrior name.
As she glanced around the camp she saw warriors taking naps, apprentices exhausted from patrols. They were a bunch of lazy mousebrains. They couldn't handle the pressure of extra patrols? How pathetic and weak. She had done just as much as them, and still felt nothing. But that was common for Meadowsong. Nothing was what she constantly felt. No emotion, no pain, nothing existed in her mind. It seemed as if her body had accepted this same nothingness also and just was in constant motion. Did she take time to sleep at night? Sometimes. But that would mean that she would have to sleep. When she slept, she saw their little faces...she didn't want to forget them but she didn't want to remember them this way.
This is why she couldn't stand to look at kits. All she saw was the dead faces of her kits, not even old enough to be weaned yet. Her son had been the splitting image of herself, her daughter...well her daughter was a beautiful little thing. Meadowsong's eyes narrowed as she looked in the nursery. She would have to be dragged back in there if anyone wanted her there. No way would she, could she, ever return there. Her paws would find ways to completely avoid that route.
Her eyes drifted to the leader, watching as Raggedstar began the familiar clan meeting summonings. Might as well see what was going on. She found herself a spot, far away from other cats and not wanting anything to do with anyone. No one could be trusted, not anymore. Her once mate had betrayed her and he was dead, and the cat she thought was her mother turned out to be her aunt. If her family had lied to her, what was to say everyone else wouldn't? She watched as other cats approached, and most of all noticed a kit tumble out of the nursery. She felt her fur rise to its fullest as she put her all of her walls, the icy glare, everything. Her kits would have been around five moons at this point, close to apprenticeship. What would they have been like? No...she couldn't think these thoughts now. She had to be strong and ignore the nursery and the kit that had come out of it. Now she would focus solely on the leader and his meeting.

Blazekit
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here!" Confused yet quite curious, the small she-kit poked her head out of the nursery, lingering in the entrance of the den. She had yet to become accustom to clan life and was unsure as to why her the leader was gathering her new clan mates. Still unsure of her place, Blazekit scans the crowd, her orange eyes taking in every detail. She spots another kit not far off and recognizes him from the nursery. He's much bigger than she is and never wants to play. Maybe he's off to become an apprentice? Her ears perked up in excitement at the prospect. Blazekit couldn't wait to serve the clan that had saved her life. Perhaps my time will come soon as well, she thought. Even though she had only arrived a couple days ago, she was already willing to go to great lengths to help her clan mates, though she hadn't even memorized everyone's names. She didn't yet feel as if she belonged here and that bothered her greatly. Every time she felt assured in her spot as a kit of Shadowclan she would be reminded of her past and the fact that she's nothing but a lost little kitty pet. Maybe if she made a friend the transition wouldn't be so harsh.

Raggedstar watched in silence as the cats appeared in the clearing, seeing all of them there made him slightly worried about their small numbers; though of course no clan could match the strength that Shadowclan possessed. His eyes caught sight of the grey she-cat he found himself constantly looking out for, he blinked twice before realising he was staring at her. At least he had good reason, Moonshadow was to mentor the new apprentice and he knew she would do well in it; the warrior had brought out his old cheerful self in single day and he hoped to Starclan she could do the same for Whirlkit and make him into the young cat who used to kick up dust outside the nursery.
He then turned to look at his deputy, Brackenshade, who was very clearly displeased with not being spoken to before the gathering. He respected his deputy completely and appreciated his input but Raggedstar knew he was correct in his choice of mentor for Whirlkit. One of the younger kits had appeared which wasn't unusual for a clan meeting, he was more than happy to have accepted Blazekit in to the clan she was new and he needed to announce her presence. Some cats of the clans disapprove of taking in kittypets and Raggedstar couldn't help but agree most of the time, but this kit knew little of a kittypet life after being lost and found by his warriors. She will have more to prove than most cats and Raggedstar knew this would be what will make her a brilliant warrior for Shadowclan in the future. "I have two things to take care of today." his voice was loud as he stood firmly on the branch, his long matted tail held behind him balancing him perfectly as he spoke. Stunningly green eyes scanned the camp, few cats were missing from the meeting as per usual with the constant patrols and hunting parties that he had ordered Brackenshade to apply. "Firstly, we welcome Blazekit to Shadowclan, she has not been here long and has settled in well. She will make a brilliant warrior for Shadowclan when her time comes." he dipped his head gently in the directed of the small kit. Raggedstar was well aware that she was already on a tough path of life, and for a large portion of her time in Shadowclan she will have to constantly prove herself to warriors who would simply push her aside as though she actually was a kittypet. Raggedstar planned to give her all the support he could, he knew of how cats of kittypet roots climbed the clan ranks as though it was nothing and she could be no different if she had the ambition for it.
"We will also be welcoming a new apprentice today, Whirlkit." he gestured with his tail for the kit to make his way closer as he spoke with a loud voice. "Whirlkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Whirlpaw. Your mentor will be Moonshadow. I hope Moonshadow will pass down all she knows on to you." he glanced down at Moonshadow with kind eyes and gestured her to step forward. She had yet to have an apprentice and was more than ready for one, he only hoped she agreed with his decision. "Moonshadow, you are ready to take on your first apprentice. You had received excellent training from Sparrowtail, and you have shown yourself to be a loyal and skilled warrior of Shadowclan. You will be the mentor of Whirlpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Whirlpaw." he dipped his head at her as he waited in silence for the two cats to finish the ceremony.

<3 “We found love in a hopeless place..."
When Raggedstar announced the clan meeting, she had just got back into camp from gathering herbs for the most likely upcoming battle with ThunderClan. Lunastorm turned it into a beginning training trip for Brindlepaw, who was still acting distant being around her. Lunastorm knew it would take time to earn the she-cat's trust and was willing to take as long as she needed, because Lunastorm knew the feeling of needing trust.
Looking around the den she quickly laid the herbs down to be sorted once the meeting was over. She looked up at Brindlepaw. "Let's get out there." She meowed, walking out toward where the rest of the clan gathered. As usual, Lunastorm sat up front with the perfect view of the ceremonies. Her mind was running wild as she tried to keep focus on what was happening infront of her. Blazekit coming to ShadowClan was major news and she had the privileged of making sure the little she-kit was in perfect health. Plus, ShadowClan needed new kits. The last group of kits were her own and she wasn't the Medicine Cat back then. Whirlkit was more than ready to become an apprentice. He was very spirited and deserved it; Moonshadow will be an amazing mentor. Lunastorm gave her congratulations to Whirlpaw and Moonshadow. She knew what big steps they were both taking.

Brindlepaw - 694 Words Tags: Kitties in ShadowClan Note: Yeah, sorry completely forgot about her.
Who knew that being an apprentice was such a scary thing. She had felt completely safe with her father’s watchful eyes on her as a kit, but now that she is an apprentice it is a completely different world. She was already behind her brothers and sister in training, but then again she was on a completely different path than they were. Brindlepaw was trying her best not to show her fear, but it was hard. She had a major fear of she-cats, which was no thanks to her mother. And she just happened to have a she-cat for a mentor. Could life be any more of a pain? To Brindlepaw it could, add all of that onto having a disorder, it made life very difficult.
The little medicine cat apprentice was slowly following after her mentor. She kept her distance, still not sure that she wouldn’t be hurt. If her own mother hurt her, who was to say another she-cat wouldn’t? Lunastorm had given her a little training session in the forest, and Brindlepaw had actually listened carefully. She was able to get out of camp, and it was so freeing. It was amazing to see the territory and not just the camp she had been confined to for her six moons of life. She still would see her mother from time to time and this would cause the apprentice to become even more nervous.
As they walked into camp, Brindlepaw watched the clan. They were gathering for some reason. Oh yeah! The leader had probably called a meeting. But there were too many she-cats and her eyes were darting around, and the gaze of a certain she-cat she was related to, had Brindlepaw moving closer to Lunastorm. When they arrived at the den, the small bundle she had carried was placed nearby her mentor’s pile. She listened as Lunastorm spoke and nodded. She still wasn’t comfortable speaking in front of her mentor, and used her tail and paws to speak. But there was a slow spark of trust developing, and though it would take time, she might even speak to her mentor in the next….moon or so.
When her mentor left, Brindlepaw was quick to follow. Normally she would sit by her siblings, but they were too close to her mother. She breathed deeply and sat down next to Lunastorm, trying her best to not freak out at being so close to the she-cat. But one glare from her mother, sent Brindlepaw moving as close to Lunastorm as possible. She looked up to her mentor, trying to apologize for the closeness with her eyes, her tail twitching in embarrassment, though she didn’t move away.
The brown tabby’s eyes were staring up at Raggedstar, but as with all clan meetings, she was having trouble keeping up. She hated that her mind was like this and she couldn’t understand half of what was being said. It was all so fast and so much to take in. She listened as he mentioned a new kit. Maybe a new friend! She didn’t care if the kit was a kittypet or clanborn, Brindlepaw just liked the idea that for at least a little while another cat wouldn’t know her history. All that she had gotten out of Raggedstar saying about Blazekit was her name and she was a new kit. Hopefully she had gotten most of it down. She was still thinking about the new kit when Raggedstar had mentioned the second thing. She knew Raggedstar had said something, and then mentioned someone else, but it was all too fast. Her brain was still trying to understand about the new kit. What was going on now? She didn’t want to mewl in frustration and sound pathetic.
Once again, Brindlepaw’s gaze drifted to Lunastorm. She was hesitating and wanting to ask her mentor what was going on, or if she could help. But that would mean she would have to talk. The internal debate was going strong in her young mind, so much that it was hurting her head. She looked around for Whirlkit and pointed with her tail to him, trying to see if Lunastorm could explain.

Moonshadow's amber gaze was on the leader, she found herself not just looking at him just because he was the leader but it was more. She was just trying to see how he was doing. She couldn't tell much from how he was now, he seemed better than before. Which was good, but she wanted to know for sure. Maybe should would take some time out of her simple warrior duties to talk to the tom again. A tightening in her stomach surprised the gray she-cat. That was something new that she never felt before but she would just have to deal with it. Because more cats started appearing around them. Since she sat down looking back she noticed that Meadowsong had appeared. Moonshadow wasn't close with the she-cat but by the look on the she-cats face there was defentily something on her mind. But then behind her coming from the nursery the gray she-cat noticed a small ball of fur. It was one that she hadn't meet yet because this cats wasn't born in the clan. Which really didn't bother Moonshadow all that much. She known as this kit to be called Blazekit. She just then flicked her gaze back up at Raggedstar. She wondered what he was thing at this moment.
Thats when Raggedstar addressed the clan. The gray she-cat wasn't expecting to become a mentor today so she just listened at the tom explained about Blazekit. Moonshadow then just flicked her dark amber gaze on the kit. The kit seemed to be quite happy. She wasn't too troubled by the kittypet smell on the young she-cat but then again what did that say about Shadowclan. That they had to resort to letting outsiders in to have a clan. She didn't like what the other clans would think but maybe they wouldn't know because the kit was so young it probably wont know not being in Shadowclan. The poor thing, she didn't like that Blazekit would always have to prove herself more than the other kits that were born in clan. She knew what that was like not because she wasn't clan born but because she though her own father would like her if she proved to him how great of a warrior she was. But that turned out to not go well. She just then heard Raggedstar call up Whirlkit. She flicked her gaze towards the large kit. She didn't know what to think of him. From what she knew he was a bit different, that he had changed a lot in 6 moons.
But what happened next she was not expecting. She looked up at Raggedstar her eyes one would notice the shock in them. He only looked at her with those green eyes friendly. She just stood up and started forward towards the new apprentice. The gray warrior felt a bit uncomfortable because like her name she tended to stick to the shadows. Not liking to be in the center of attention. She just face the new apprentice. She just then dipped her head back at Raggedstar, then she smiled slightly at Whirlpaw now. Leaning down she went to touch her nose with the young toms.
