Firestorm had been resting silently in his den with his long tail curled over his noise when the call from Raggedstar woke him from his light sleep. Blinking as he adjusted to the light, watching as clan mates hoisted themselves out of their dens and out of the brambled entrance. Pulling himself out of his warm nest with a yawn, following his clan mates into the clearing of Shadowclan camp. He spotted the black warriors muscular frame balanced delicately on the branch, part of Firestorm envied him and Brackenshade. They were such important and powerful warriors and he wanted to be just like them. His tail flicked to and fro as he padded into the crowd of cats. His blue gaze was placed of Brackenshade, it looked as if he had burrs stuck in his pelt and Firestorm tilted his head to the side. He wondered why the deputy looked displeased, but the thought was pushed to the back of his mind as the leader addressed Blazekit. He narrowed his eyes at the small lump of fur with a snort, he wouldn't bother the kit but he couldn't believe Raggedstar had accepted a non clan cat. His tail lashed irritably, "Since when did Shadowclan become a clan that takes rogues." he hissed under his breath with a scowl directed at the kit.
His broad shoulders stiffened as he watched Whirlkit be called over with a gesture of Raggedstars tail, an apprentice ceremony. He felt his pelt twitch with excitement and he wanted to mentor the grumpy kit, not because he liked Whirlpaw but because it would give him something to do other that patrol and hunt. Firestorm looked at his paws disappointed as Moonshadow was walking toward her new apprentice. His tail twitched and he focused on the grey she-cat, he'd noticed Raggedstar watching her as he passed her in camp, the softness in his eyes. Firestorm snorted, was dear Raggedstar growing weak? He was a new leader of course but perhaps he couldn't handle the weight of the clan on his shoulders.

[attr="class","blacks"] [attr="class","blacksw"] WHIRLKIT [attr="class","blackswa"] [attr="class","quote"]❝ [attr="class","notquote"]Shadowclan 0232 WORDS ^^ | "There is a wild fire inside you," burning desire you can't extinguish. "Your crimson arrow rips through the twilight." This is the moment for war
Whirlkit heard his name called in the first announcement by the leader, Raggedstar. He raised his chin and calmly gave Raggedstar his full attention as the leader spoke in a loud voice, Whirlkit's disposition full of strange serenity. "Whirlkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Whirlpaw. Your mentor will be Moonshadow. I hope Moonshadow will pass down all she knows on to you." Whirlpaw blinked, the first small sign of emotion he had shown today, then began to look around and find Moonshadow. Even though he was Moonshadow's first apprentice, he thought the she-cat warrior was alright.
While Raggedstar finished the ceremony directed toward Moonshadow, Whirlpaw spotted her coming forward, and hopped to his paws to go meet her and complete the traditional steps of the ceremony. Though the queens in the nursery had tried to drill the traditions into him, he didn't need to be reminded nor taught them. He had seen these ceremonies take place before, and that was all he needed to memorize the motions. Moonshadow almost seemed a bit hesitant. Whirlpaw suspected she wasn't expecting this perhaps. Not that it bothered him. Whirlpaw padded up to his new mentor, pale eyes expressionless, and touched noses with her.

The black tom cat watched from his perch with his tail balancing him perfectly as green eyes were locked on the newly announced mentor and apprentice. Looking at Moonshadow with kind eyes, he hoped she would enjoy her first apprentice in Whirlpaw, a difficult task was ahead of her but he believed she could handle him easily. He wanted to pounce down from the branch and congratulate her but he wouldn't. His tail twitched as he watched the two touch noses, he waited for them to sit back down before he glanced back to look at his clan with pride. His warriors were strong, and Shadowclan had recovered from the loss of Icestar, they could face any challenge brought to them and he knew such challenges would arrive within the next few moons. From the hazel branch he could see the medicine cat and her apprentice and he knew he should ask her if Starclan had spoken to either of them, he could see his warriors greeting the new kit and the voices that called out Whirlpaws name. A low purr rumbled in his chest as his first apprentice ceremony was successful, and Starclan willing he'll be there to give him his warrior name that his mother had already chosen.
"We welcome Whirlpaw, we will need more warriors with Leaf bare just around the corner, prey will be sparse and clans will be tempted to cross borders." he hissed out the last part of his sentence with a loud voice, laced with disgust at the idea of Thunderclan or Riverclan robbing them of their precious prey. "Brackenshade, organize more border patrols along the Thunderclan border. We had our victory, and they have rested and licked their wounds but they are tense, and preparing to strike back. Howlingstar will not rob us of our success! We will be ready if they try to fight us for that strip of land." he spoke with a proud voice his voice echoing off of the camp walls as he spoke. "Our apprentices will practice battle training, I want all mentors to try team hunting and battle training, we need to learn how to work efficiently as a unit." he mewed flicking his tail in a gesture that he was done. "That is all for this meeting." he pounced off of the hazel branch landing silently before walking toward Brackenshade with calm green eyes and a level gaze. "My apologies for not consulting you about Whirlpaws mentor, I spoke to him one morning and knew who should mentor him." he began with a dip of his head. He knew the tom was ambitious and wanted to do as much work as much as he could. "I am serious about those patrols, Thunderclan will not beat us in battle, not after they took Icestars life." he mewed in a deep growl before turning and walking back to his den, dipping his head at Whirlpaw and Moonshadow as he past them. "Congratulations, you'll both do amazing." he purred softly before returning to his den.

Moonshadow watched as the apprentice padded up to her to complete the ceremony. Moonshadow's small smile vanished as quickly as it came. Whirlpaw had no expression on his face, she didn't know but wouldn't a kit be super excited to become an apprentice. But then she remembered that Whirlpaw was different than most other kits, she shouldn't give up right now. Maybe he was shy or maybe there was something missing. She just watched as he leaned up to complete the ceremony touching her nose touched the young toms. Thats when she padded back towards where she was sitting and sat back down. It seemed that Raggedstar wasn't done with his announcements. She was still in slight shock but she didn't want the clan to know that she was surprised because that might give some others the wrong idea.
She turned her gaze back up at the dark tom. She just hopped that he made the right decision on choosing her to mentor Whirlpaw. She remembered looking into his eyes and seeing nothing at all in them. But then again she saw that some where else once before and it was from the leader. But she remembered bring that light back into his green eyes. She felt shiver over her pelt as she remembered the conversation that they had a few days ago. The gray warrior listened as the leader's strong voice rang out to all of Shadowclan. They were a tough clan and with leafbare right around the corner, they would have to be even more strong. She just knew that her words gave him this strength and she knew that with him and Brackenshade they would do great. As Raggedstar ordered the clan about the new hunting patrol assignment she just then looked over at the deputy.
She noticed that Raggedstar was finished and was moving towards the deputy. She just looked at Whirlpaw and said with a clear voice, "I look forward to mentoring into a warrior of Shadowclan. But lets start training tomorrow. Why don't you head over to the apprentice den and meet the other apprentices and get a nest. Ill meet you in the clearing at dawn tomorrow." Then she smiled and stood up to head over to the deputy but she then noticed that the leader was passing by. She just locked eyes with him and she barely heard his congratulations because she was distracted so ever slightly. The purr broke her and she shook her head and didn't get to say anything because the dark handsome tom was headed back and disappeared in his den.
Thanks Raggedstar, I won't let you down. Moonshadow thought as she stared where the leader had retreated to.
