If he was trying to be serious, he was doing quite the poor job at it. His eyes were a huge giveaway. Smallbrook had learned early on that taking cats too serious was the worst idea in the world, she tried to find the softer side of them. Everyone had some sort of tick that showed their amusement. For some it was a tail twitch, or a twitch of a whisker. Some it was a very subtle tilt of the head, but then there were the ones who held all of the expressions in their body in their eyes. The moment she looked into Lightningstrike's eyes is when she saw that was his trigger. His voice was serious....somewhat, but his eyes told another story. So from now on all she needed to do was look him in the eyes to get the full truth. Shouldn't be too hard, right? "Who in their right mind would want to help me out? They would be wasting their time and the clan's time. I don't need someone to watch me, I'm not some helpless kit." Smallbrook hissed, not liking the thought of someone else having to spend time away from their lives just to help her out. No, that was an awful punishment for them.
Her whiskers twitched as she watched him chuckle. What was so funny? Did he need to go see the medicine cat for his chuckling issue? It seemed to happen at inappropriate times in her opinion. She huffed at his mentioning of getting her fur in a wad. Now that was something that could easily happen, she was known to have a tangle or two in her fur from all of her roughhousing. But she knew that wasn't what he meant by that statement. "Trying to be helpful would be shutting your mouth on things that aren't any of your business. But you don't really seem the kind of cat that knows how to do that." she muttered. "I wish I could battle. I would love to see the look on a cat's face as my claws sink into their fur. Is it like hunting at all?" she questioned, her head tilted to the side in genuine curiosity.
Was that a compliment she heard coming out of his mouth? No..couldn't be. Either way it didn't stop the grin from stretching wide across her face. "I should hope not. If they beat me then they must be cheating." she mewed confidently. The grin widened even more as he continued on about his fur. "You are more obsessed with your fur than a she-cat! You will have to prove it to me then, later." she laughed.
Smallbrook hadn't even noticed that the water WAS starting to get warmer. She was too into this conversation. Wow...some warrior she was. He had actually managed to distract her, a feat that was not that easy. "I'm feeling a slight change now. I guess you were right after all." the she-cat admitted. Well, she was definitely surprised. He might actually be intelligent after all.
