The small cat laid curled in her moss lined nest, Russetfur wasn't making noise in the small cramped den of the medicine cats, so she was either asleep or had left when Foxpaw has dozed off into a calm sleep. It had been moons since an omen from Starclan, no signs had been given. Which she figured was good, if they weren't sending signs then it meant things were normal, or so the apprentice thought. She was buzzing with excitement, this could be her last half moon gathering as an apprentice, all of the cats who shared the nursery with her were already warriors with their full clan name and Foxpaw wanted just that though she knew she would never stop being Russetfurs apprentice, and she didn't want to stop being her apprentice either. She shivered at the thought of not having her close friend and mentor to guide her through the hard days of battle and leaf bare. She coiled her long tail around her nose pushing her muzzle into the soft long hairs for warmth. Her nose was cold and damp as if she was catching a cold, and her paw still ached from her stumble in the training hollow. She had small cuts on her paw pads from the messy landing but with the cooling juices of dock leaves and horsetail her paws were getting better and free on infection.
Although she was quite the distance away from the herbs store she would smell the sharp scent of each herb, the catmint herself and her mentor recently picked once leaf bare finally struck in fear of greencough or whitecough. Sitting up in her nest with a yawn, her tail flicked anxiously. She hoped there would be no sickness in Riverclan this leaf bare though the chances were against them. It was cold outside and the snow was falling lightly on the ground outside lining the earth with perfect white dots until it was covered in a blanket of white. It was a beautiful sight but it regretfully brought too much illness to all clans. Their stocks of tansy were running low as they gave it out to the weaker cats in attempt to prevent them from falling ill. Pushing herself to get up and walk stiffly to the stores she glanced at each neat bundle carefully wrapped in leaves. They were certainly running low on tansy, burdock root and she couldn't deny that she would have liked to have had more catmint in the stores. She shut her eyes tightly praying to Starclan that no greencough or whitecough would raid her clan. Opening her eyes she made the decision to ask the Starclan warrior if she met any as to whether they had any warnings in relation to disease. Pushing it far from her mind, the apprentice padded to the entrance guarded by bramble. She looked outside and saw the sun low in sky and she flicked her tail irritably.
She would have to walk out in the cold to get to the moonpool and she wasn't looking forward to numb paw pads and cold legs. Even with her thick fur fluffed up against the cold she would much rather stay near her nest and all of her beloved herbs that leave camp tonight. Sticking her head out she looked around for Russetfur, they would have to leave soon enough and she couldn't dream of leaving her mentor behind. With a yawn she called out, "Russetfur!" before turning back into the den swiftly. "My nose is so cold." she mewed softly, rubbing and covering her nose with her right paw in attempt to heat herself back up before glancing back at their stores. "I should tell Russetfur we need more tansy.." she mumbled softly narrowing her eyes to the hidden stacks of herbs.
