A heavy rustle from within the leader's den in the cave beyond the Highledge foretold the appearance of Howlingstar emerging from its entrance. The powerful leader's pelt shown in the morning light, slicked down neatly from being groomed meticulously ever since he woke up at dawn. He swiveled his large, fox-like ears around at the sound of the camp, awake and beginning to bustle with the peaceful activity of clan life during this late Greenleaf. Howlingstar blinked his amber eyes warmly as clanmates passed in front of the Highledge on their way to complete business on the opposite side of the camp. With a subtle purr rumbling deep within his thick chest, Howlingstar tensed his muscles and dropped down from the Highledge with a heavy, but gentle and muted thud, revealing a preview of his highly experienced hunting ability to move silently through his own territory. Only a dull clink sounded as the three metal bands around his right foreleg hit together. The strength under his skin rippled visibly beneath his pelt as he rose from the hunter's crouch and padded toward the Warrior's den to look for cats to accompany him on the dawn border patrol. He wanted to especially check on Thunderclan's border with Shadowclan. One could never doubt that the slightly less than humble Shadowclan cats would always be looking forward to their next chance at taking more territory or starting a skirmish over prey. Howlingstar poked his large head into the Warrior's den beneath the beech tree in a dip in the ground and looked around for any cats off duty.

LONGTAIL x - kit - apprentice - warrior - x
The pale she cat was curled up in her nest that lined one of the outer edges of the den, every few moments you could see the faith twitch of a paw, or flick of the ears as she dreamed peacefully in the dry moss nest. Her long brown tipped tail lay over the edge of the nest, flicking back and forth as she chased a dreamed up mouse. The warm light that shimmered through the entrance hitting her pelt making her nest irresistible warm and comfortable.
The light soon vanished behind the head of Howlingstar, the rustling of the protective brambles that lined the den entrance forcing Longtails bright blue eyes to flicker around the room to discover the culprit who was trying to wake them, her tail flicking in annoyance until she noticed the sun shining brightly behind her leaders head, and soon recognizing it was her leader who had disturbed her rest. Pulling herself up into the sitting position, her tail coiling protectively around her legs as she remembered the comfortable state she had just been pulled from.
Tip-toeing around the warriors, she pulled herself past Howlingstar through the brambles, a quiet purr rose in her throat at the gently heat given off by the sun. Turning her gaze back to the large tom "Good morning Howlingstar." she mewed, her voice calm and gentle before she added "You disturbed me from the best dream I've had in moons." her words were dramatic as she drew out 'moons' with a long sigh at the end, an underlining teasing tone was easy to notice her in her words.
Sitting at the entrance, she allowed her tail to sit freely beside her as she slowly pulled the dried out moss from her fur, making a mental note to change her moss before nightfall. "What adventures are we having this morning?" she drawled out being licks as she smoothed down the sleep ruffled fur. Her paw raising to brush away anything behind her ears, her intense blue eyes shining in the sunlight as she blinked at the leader awaiting for his reply.

Lionclaw yawned as he laid down, he had been training with some of the apprentices. Helping them with their moves and was ready for some rest. He laid down with an undignified flop and closed his eyes. The smell of the woods and his clan mates sending him into dream land. He was just getting to a good part of the dream when he heard a rustle. His ear flicking but since there were no screams or battle cries he figured it was just another warrior coming in. He sighed about to go back to sleep when he felt a cat brush past him and opened his eyes. He looked at longtail then ovet and saw his leader. He pulled himself up and shook out his massive body from the moss. He stepoed forward and stretched, feeling his powerful muscles pulling under his golden coat. Walking over, he followed Longtail out and past his leader. Sitting down on his large paws he watched him.
The beautiful day over head made him glad he had bern woken up. It was just too pretty a day to be lazing around the camp. He yawned and shook his head. "Hey, Howlingstar. What we doing? " the young tom was a surprise for his age. A large cat easily one of the biggest in the forest. He smiled warmly at Longtail, the she cat teased him about his hunting which was completely justified. He turned his gaze looking at the beautiful camp. Watching his clan mates he felt extreme pride in his clan and proud to be apart of Thunderclan.

Howlingstar saw the sleeping form of the white, speckled warrior Longtail disturbed and awoken by his arrival. He also saw Lionclaw, who appeared to be already awake, stir when Longtail brushed passed him to the entrance, and he moved out of the way so she could exit. "Goodmorning, Longtail." Howlingstar meowed back to the warrior with a pleasant tone. A chuckle softly rumbled in his throat as he listened to Longtail's dramatic complaint, and his amber eyes gleamed with amusement. Humor was always a good sign of positivity within the clan and among the warriors and clanmates. "I'm sure you'll have a chance to finish it later." Howlingstar sat with his long, wolf-like tail behind him as Longtail began grooming the moss scraps from her pelt. He switched his attention to Lionclaw who was next to appear at the entrance of the warrior's den. "Goodmorning to you too, Lionclaw." Howlingstar purred to one of the youngest warriors of Thunderclan. Lionclaw was a very large tom, almost as big as Howlingstar himself, and nearly matching his son Emberpaw in height, if not the exact same size. Emberpaw was only a tad bit less muscular than Lionclaw, though it was hard to tell due to the orange apprentice's long, fluffy coat. The three of them were probably the biggest cats in all the clans, and it was something rare in their blood that allowed them to grow to such massive, towering sizes. Howlingstar was happy to see that Thunderclan was rapidly training so many powerful, loyal and exceptionally skilled fighters. It wouldn't be long before they could fight to take back what they had lost only a few moons prior... These two warriors would do perfectly for a patrol. Howlingstar swept his gaze over the two warriors in front of him and replied to their inquiry about this occasion. "I'm going to take lead of the dawn patrol, and you two are coming with me." Howlingstar meowed in his usual deep, smooth voice. "Have you two eaten yet today? If not, go get a quick snack and then check back with me." He flicked his tail in the direction of the fresh kill pile. Howlingstar would never patronize or spoil his warriors, but he always considered their wellbeing and need to eat and have energy.

L O N G T A I L x - warrior - x The white she-cat dipped her head in a small greeting to Lionclaw, recalling her last conversation with the tom not too long ago about his hunting skills and part of her wanted Howlingstar to assign them to a hunting patrol so the amusing sight that was the golden tom hunting. Her whiskers twitched with amusement at the thought before she continued picking moss from her usually clean and sleek pelt. Her ears perked as she listened to Howlingstar talk to Lionclaw, glancing up at the two toms who were almost side by side an close in height. 'Way to make a cat feel stumpy.' she thought as she looked the pair up and down her head filling with thoughts as to why they grew to such abnormal sizes - even Emberpaw, Howlingstars son was taller than her. The warriors tail twitched in annoyance - Longtail never was a large warrior in fact, she was on the small size and was often teased for her height when she was an apprentice.
"I'm going to take lead of the dawn patrol, and you two are coming with me." the words of her leader snapped her away from her thoughts and with a nod she spoke. "Alright Howlingstar." she mewed with a respectful dip of her head before to got up, "I'll grab you something from the freshkill pile Lionclaw." she mewed without waiting for the response on if he was even hungry for food. Longtail wanted to get this patrol done with so she could return to her calming dream, walking swiftly to freshkill with her body held proud and moving with effortless grace as she lifted two small thrushes with so little meat on their hollow bones not even the smallest apprentices would find a good meal in them. She held them gripped between her jaws by the tail feathers as she returned to the waiting tom cats. Longtail had assumed Howlingstar had already eaten already due to being awake earlier than the pair.
Dropping the small bird at Lionclaws large paws before moving a few paw steps away to lay on her stomach with a comfortable access to her small meal. Quickly plucking the feathers from the thrust before ripping into it's flesh with pointed white teeth with ease with her paws gripping the bird with strong paws enjoying the pleasant taste of fresh kill. Licking her white maw before going to clean her blood stained paws, happy that the prey marked the brown paw instead of the white. Heaving her weight onto her haunches so she was sitting up after her quick meal. Standing onto all fours, Longtail stretched by putting all her weight onto her straightened hind legs, arching her back toward the ground with her head angled upward before reversing the position with her fore legs straightened. They white she-cat padded over quietly to Howlingstar so she was behind him, "Sorry I kept you waiting." she mewed prepared to go on patrol.

Lionclaw smiled at his clan mates teasing look. It was well known the large warrior couldn't hunt that well but he made up for in aces with his fighting skills. He looked at his leader, a little shorter but muscular. Him and Emberpaw were always competing for who was taller and more built. He enjoyed the little rivalry and saw the apprentice who was about to be a warrior only a piece of moon behind him as a friend. Lionclaw nodded as his stomach gave a loud rumble which made him look down.
"Well boss, I'm in as you know. Maybe we can meet some Shadowclan cats and get a little payback. I say we take our territory back and leave them with scars so bad they never try again." his tail flicked that he hadn't been allowed in the fight but now he was a full warrior he was itching to take back their territory. He nodded at Longtail who walked to get them prey. Turning back he smiled at his leader. "Where we patrolling? "
The finch that Longtail laid down was barley a mouthful but he wouldn't complain. He wouldn't have eaten ever if not for the clans amazing hunting abilities. Bending down, he gave a savage rip with his sharp teeth. Tearing into the food and ignoring the feathers. He swallowed down the morsel and licked his jaws. Ignoring the blood. Looking up, he smiled at his leader. "Ready when you are boss." he took a step back so he was behind Howlingstar and waited for the order.

Howlingstar nodded in return as Longtail got up to go fetch both her and Lionclaw a piece of fresh kill from the fresh kill pile. His battle scarred ear twitched when he picked up the sound of Lionclaw's stomach growling at the mention of food, and a small purr of amusement rumbled in his throat. Howlingstar blinked as Lionclaw mentioned the thought of meeting Shadowclan cats and a battle, and he refused to reveal how eager he too was to fight again for Thunderclan's territory. It was never a good idea for a leader to encourage his clan to fight.
"If we meet Shadowclan cats, we will speak and try to solve things peacefully should a conflict arise. Always avoid unnecessary blood-shed whenever possible. Only if Shadowclan cats are tresspassing on our territory may we challenge them with our claws unsheathed and our words saved for the next Gathering." Howlingstar meowed, speaking of the principles he as a leader had to practice. He knew Lionclaw was an enthusiastic warrior striving to make his clan proud, and should the tom learn the wisdom expected of leadership and the maturity and patience of Starclan, he may possibly become a candidate for deputy in the distant future when he grows older and matures as a warrior.
Longtail soon returned after Howlingstar finished his brief lecture. Howlingstar quietly groomed his thick brown fur a little as he waited for the two to finish their morning snacks. Even though he hadn't yet eaten this morning himself, he wasn't hungry yet, and planned on probably having something for himself later, after this dawn patrol. Once the two warriors both voiced their readiness to head out, Howlingstar nodded and made way with a flick of his tail towards the entrance of the camp. Trotting at a light-hearted pace, he lead his small patrol through the thorn tunnel and into the forest.
Howlingstar had to crouch down to less than half his own height and army crawl through the tunnel which was made by normal sized cats and had stood for many generations before him. But no matter what kind of activity he put his huge physique through, he always managed to keep his giant pawsteps as silent as expected of a Thunderclan warrior and a fully trained hunter who stalked the most sensitive of mice. In the forest, a few scarce leaves lay freshly fallen on the ground. Leaf Fall was brining its journey around the corner, but there was still plenty of GreenLeaf left to enjoy and last many more sunrises.
Howlingstar headed north from the camp, straight for the border with Shadowclan that surrounded the Abandoned Two-Leg Nest that Thunderclan had lost only a couple moons prior. Even he almost admitted to himself that he hoped they could meet and chase off a Shadowclan patrol from Thunderclan's territory. But all the same, his wise leader instincts told him that no bloodshed was always the better outcome.

L O N G T A I L x - warrior - x The lithe she cat watched as Lionclaw approached speaking to Howlingstar as he did. Her long tail flicked behind her excited for the patrol, part of her hoping for Shadowclan cats to have cross the border so they would have a reason to get their territory back from those rats. She padded quietly after the large tom leading the patrol with Lionclaw near by, unlike the larger cats Longtail was able to walk without bending down through the thorn tunnel, her small body fitting perfect for the tight tunnel armored with pointed thorns. Her pace matched that of Howlingstars as they moved at a calm pace through the forested area that Thunderclan was used to, their pawsteps light on the ground that was now beginning to be littered with the colourful leaves telling that Leaf Fall would be beginning soon, and oh how Longtail was not looking forward for the change in seasons. The she-cat had grown to love the warmth of the sun beaming down into the sanding clearing - a perfect place for relaxing in the perfect weather, with this Green Leaf being particularly peaceful after all the battles moons ago. The dread she had for the coming Leaf Bare was intense, the white cat loathed the snow that often coated the territory with it's frosty patches of white that made the prey hide away, and she couldn't blame them for wanting to stay in the warmth of their homes. The only thing that she liked about the snow was how it perfectly blended with her pelt, the only time of the year where she would hide her figure without needing large clumped objects to cover her pale pelt.
"It would seem Leaf Fall will be with us soon." she mewed softly with her eyes still focused on the soft leaves that were freshly fallen still smooth at the entrance with turgid stems extending from some of them that would soon loose their powerful tones and curl up like a dead spider with age. Her ears twitched at the obvious sounds of prey moving through the thick bushed territory, she was tempted to turn and drop easily into the hunting crouch but reluctantly resisted and focused her eyes straight ahead as the trio moved silently through the woodlands. As they neared the border Longtail looked up at Howlingstars powerful shape with curiousity, with confidence growing in her chest before she spoke. "Do we intend to take this territory back?" she spoke with a calm tone although she was furious with not having the territory, furious that they had lost this battle and furious that the damn cats of Shadowclan didn't hesitate to rub it in their faces. Her tail lashed with her anger toward the clan that lived in the dark beneath the towering Pine trees. "The whole clan seems eager to fight for it, as I'm sure you're aware. This area should be ours. We shouldn't leave it for so many moons in their grasp." her voice grew harsh forgetting she was talking to her leader, she blinked quickly focusing on Howlingstar again before she dipped her head in muted shame. "My apologies for speaking so rudely." she mewed softly her ears low displaying her embarrassed emotion.

Lionclaw bent down as he pushed through the brambles that guarded the camp. His body having to push hard to get through. Stopping, he shook out the excess from his golden pelt. Long claws sliding out and clutching the ground as he shook himself. Falling into step behind Longtail he was glad to take up the position of rear guard so he could listen for everything. A sharp cold blew over his nose, breathing in the pure air before it fled. "Leaf fall coming soon. Might want to have some apprentices help the medicine cats stock up before all the good stuff is gone. Might also be a good idea to see if we can find some catnip. Greencough and blackcough love the cold." he shook his fur once. He had lost his two kitmates to blackcough. He found himself protective of kits for that reason.
His gaze flicked around, rage filling his paws that Shadowclan held their territory. He was gonna mention it when Longtail snapped it out. The large tom purred with laughter. "Howlingstar, I never knew Longtail was so blood thirsty. Maybe we should let her at Shadowclan alone. Her anger right now she probably send them all packing." He gave the she cat a playful flick with his tail then moved up beside his leader. "Sadly though she is right. So many of the clan want our territory back. And while leaf fall is coming we need the territory for hunting." Lionclaw looked around as he sniffed.
The sound of prey scuttling around reminded him of the shortages they faced when leaf bare was on them. "It might also be a good idea to find a cold place where we can store prey now so it doesn't become Crow food. When the snow falls we can have a hole dug and fill it half with snow, then prey, then snow. Keep it cool and let it last longer." his head constantly moved. Looking, listening, smelling. His claws cut the ground as he imagined Shadowclan romping around their lost territory. "We are coming up on the....new...border." that new came out in a growl that echoed in the large toms chest.

Howlingstar looked back as Lionclaw crawled through the tunnel, displaying possibly a hint of the struggles he faced with one of the hunting techniques of crouching down as low as possible by coiling ones own muscles as tightly as possible and learning to move soundlessly like that. "Try not to pull off too many thorns from the tunnel, or else you'll get to replace them with new ones." Howlingstar purred, his tone edged with amusement. To the young new recently graduated warrior's credit though, Howlingstar had many more moons of muscle memory crouching and squeezing through the thorn tunnel without getting his thick fur caught.
Howlingstar padded calmly through the forest at the lead of his patrol, habitually avoiding stepping on the extra crunchy leaves littering the forest floor and exemplifying the kind of care an elite Thunderclan hunter should take when treading the forest of his own territory. He, like almost all other cats in the clans, was not looking forward to the colder, more prey-barren moons to come. The days were still warm, but the comfortable weather was numbering down as the sunrises passed. He looked over his shoulder and gave a nod to Longtail, agreeing with her comment on Leaffall.
He also sensed the abundance of prey scuttling around in the undergrowth, but all warriors on the patrol were fed and Thunderclan's fresh-kill pile was far from low. It would be good to let any extra prey survive and breed for leafbare and the following newleaf. He met Longtail's glance as they neared the border and read the concealed anger in her tone for the Shadowclan cats who seemed to be perfectly incapable of not gloating about their victory every single moon since at every Gathering. Howlingstar too felt the same pangs of fury his clanmates felt at the blow to the clan's pride, and fully intended to let Thunderclan have its vengeance.
He nodded again to the she-cat, unaffected by Longtail's aggressive tone as he could only relate to it. Lionclaw purred with laughter and Howlingstar let the golden tom pad up beside him to converse. Howlingstar gave an amused, but confident purr. "No you're right, both of you. I'm well aware of and share the feelings the whole clan has about the abandoned twoleg nest territory." Howlingstar now paused and stared across the border towards the two-leg next with a sudden fierceness in his amber gaze. "Oh yes, Thunderclan will fight to win back this land." He flickered a smile over at Lionclaw and Longtail. "You can count on that. And we have many more formidable warriors this season. Shadowclan had better be prepared to struggle." He meowed with a chuckling purr, glancing at Lionclaw who was one of the newer warriors, and thought of his son Emberpaw who was expected to have his warrior ceremony within the quarter-moon.
