~ G E N E R A L ~

--> Follow the Proboards TOS at ALL times! This includes being at the age of 13 or over, keeping site content at Pg-13 or lower, and refraining from using other people's artwork without their permission.

--> Do what a staff member tells you to do even if it wasn't mentioned here in the rules

--> Respect everyone, including yourself. This means all staff, members, guests and trolls alike. Okay, well, you won't get in trouble if even the staff members are poking fun at a troll too, but remember to be polite and respect other people's opinions, even it doesn't agree with your own. If a member is found being rude, prejudiced, racist, or condescending to anyone, they will be warned to cease their actions. If it happens again, the offender will be banned.

--> Please try your best not to start fights. ~~We will shoot any fight-starters on sight~~. If a fight starts, or members start hatin', we will immediately ask them to cease, or get out. In pms, we will be happy to hear you out, but please keep your fights only in pms or ims out of tsn.

--> Swearing is not encouraged, but not illegal. But please don't do it excessively.

--> No pornographic content. No exceptions. Posters of porn will be shot on sight. Survivors will be shot again.

--> No spamming, anywhere. Enough said, right?

--> You must have an artist's permission before using his or her artwork to represent your character. If we find unauthorized artwork being posted here that could get the site closed down, we will remove it immediately with no question asked. And definitely don't claim it as your own if you didn't draw it!!

--> Do not steal characters or their artwork from artists who aren't a member of this forum. You may not use cat drawings you found on Google Images as your character's picture in its application!

--> Advertising may only be done in the Advertising board, nowhere else. This includes the chatbox, your signature, everywhere.

--> Non-staff members are NOT permitted to advertise for TSN! Unless given special permission by a staff member. If we find you've attempted to make a fool of or bring shame to our community by spamming, attacking or showing unacceptable behavior to other sites, misrepresenting us, then the staff members will take defensive action and ban you immediately.

~ O U T O F C H A R A C T E R ~

--> Image size limits are 575x1000; Avatar size limits are 100x100. Also, please don't let your signature stretch in height more than 400px.

--> You may create a new account per character if you want. Some roleplayers like to do this because it's fun to organize and truly roleplay a character on the site, while others prefer to only keep track of one account. Whichever roleplay style you prefer is okay!

--> There is no requirement for activity, but it is highly appreciated when members log in once a day if not only to say hello and goodbye. There is no minimum post limit per week, however, it is encouraged that you show at least some signs of activity by logging in, so that we don't think you've left us. After a month of inactivity - not logging in - without leaving a message in the absence board, your characters will treated as if they died of sickness, or as if they never existed, depending on whether they were active in many plots or not.

--> High positions must be active. Please be prepared to give an effort to be active when making the choice of creating a character with a high position, such as leader, deputy, medicine cat, or medicine cat apprentice. If you own a character of important rank and haven't logged in for two weeks without notice, your high position will be opened up again. If you create a character but just can't find the muse to reply to important threads, and are slowing us down in the site-wide plots, then we may ask you to find a way to kill off your character, retire your character of their position, or to give up your character for adoption.

--> Users with characters of high positions will be stripped of their rank if they have not logged in for over two weeks and have not posted in the absence board! if you post in the absence board, but find yourself unable to reply to an important thread for a month, we may ask you to give up your high position in favor of a more active roleplayer in order to keep the site plot moving. If no roleplaying has commenced since the creation of an inactive high position's character, then that character may simply become a warrior again.

--> All new accounts that do not make 1 post in 2 weeks will be deleted. This is simply to avoid spam accounts.

--> There is no limit on how many characters you create, however we expect you to be prepared to handle them all and keep every one of them active.

~ I N C H A R A C T E R ~

--> Try your best to avoid making Mary Sue/Gary Sue characters. If you don't know what that is, feel free to ask, or go google it.

--> You may only create cat characters unless bought from the Catnip Shop. We also do not allow cat-ish characters like asheras, or wild cats. You need to have a good reason for any character that is a purebreed, or rare, such as hairless cats, which most likely couldn't survive in the wild anyway.

--> Each person may only roleplay a maximum of 1 Leader/Deputy and 1 Medicine Cat/Med. Cat Apprentice. Few exceptions may exist, but only in the rarest occasions with permission from the majority of the staff members.

-->To audition for a high position, simple create your character. Anyone else who wishes to audition may also audition, and the staff will decide who gets it. Other than that, we go by first-come-first-serve, expecting that you are prepared to be more involved than with just a normally ranked character.

--> Follow the given template when making your character's application. You can create your own template for your application if you know your way around codes enough, but make sure it has all the information that the other blank applications have.

--> Until your pending application is complete, mark it with "WIP." Staff will overlook your app until you remove the WIP, and then we'll have a look over it and accept or reject it.

--> You may not roleplay your character until its application has been accepted. You are welcome to grab a staff member from the chatbox, or pm a staff member to take a look at your application and accept/reject it.

~ R O L E P L A Y I N G ~

--> You must have the other person's permission to kill or maim their character. No, you may not go around kicking people without their permission. ~~Even if they deserve it~~.

--> No power-playing or god-modding. If a staff member tells you that your character's actions are getting into god-modding and asks you to change your posts, please do so without arguing. If you feel that a staff member is being unfair, please pm another staff member about it.

--> 100 words per post is the word limit! Few exceptions may be made if you're having a hard time outside of the roleplaying world, but only with a staff member's permission.

--> Use third person, past tense. No exceptions. We are forgiving, however, and will ask kindly tell you to use third person, past tense, if needed.

--> We use liquid time here at TSN. Make sure to write in the first posts of a thread whether it is before or after certain major plot thread, as well as where it is in time in relation to other threads your character or the other characters are in.

--> Please name thread titles appropriately. Make sure to say whether the thread is open or closed, and if closed, say who all is allowed to post there.

--> Please mark finished threads as [FINISHED] when the thread is finished so that a staff member may lock it and move it to the archives.

--> No auto-hitting other characters in a fight. You may attempt the attack, but the other character decides whether they are hit or not. Dodging every single attack that comes at your character is heavily frowned upon, and may be considered god-modding, unless you have a good reason for it, and have said so through roleplay. Receiving no damage from an attack that hits is straight out god-modding.

--> Make sure to follow the settings. If it is winter, don't write about how warm and sunny it is. If you're in Thunderclan, don't tell us there's a roaring river going right through the territory. And don't suddenly dig up a relic from ancient cat civilizations, unless of course it is a part of a staff-approved plot. Full descriptions about the territories can be found on that board's description.

--> No graphic mating scenes. You must fade to black even before the decision is made to make/force love. This site is Pg-13, and we cannot allow any content of any type over that limit.

--> Forbidden relationships are allowed. But understand that your character is doing what they are doing at their own risk. If your character is caught in an open thread with their forbidden partner, they are fully at risk to any consequences the leader sees fit. This of course excludes execution, as the roleplayer's permission must be given to have their character killed off.

--> If your character and someone else's character are ready to have kittens, please receive your litter from a staff member in the Kitting Business board. After receiving your kittens and having them adopted out, you must wait an onsite season before birthing or creating your birthing thread, which is optional. Then the owners of the kits may begin roleplaying!

--> Female characters may only have 1 litter per three seasons. For health purposes, and because they will be taking care of their kittens.

--> No breeding before 7 months of age. This is when cats naturally reach sexual maturity anyway.

--> Gatherings, Medicine Cat Moonpool trips, and Season changes will be organized by the staff. Mentors can take their apprentices to the Moonpool whenever they feel like it.

--> Otm Nominations start on the 20th and Voting begins and ends on the 25th to the first of the month.

--> Once a mentor has been assigned to an apprentice, or vice-versa, they may begin roleplaying immediately as mentor and apprentice. If an apprentice has no preference for a mentor, then the leader of that clan or a staff member will assign a mentor.

--> TSN uses a simple 5 star stat system to help with making decisions win roleplay. Read about the 5 Star Stat System(5SSS) below.

-->For each post, you receive 10 Catnip.

-->Some things for your character must be bought in the Catnip Shop. If you're not sure about whether a certain trait about your character is allowed or not, feel free to check the Catnip Shop.

THE FIVE STAR STAT SYSTEM

TSN v.2 uses a simple five-star stat system when judging the outcome of a variety of different situations. There are four stats, which can have up to five stars per stat, each star measuring the skill in that stat. This system is useful, because it is very simple, and doesn't require moderators or staff to help out and referee threads or fights.

The four stats are Strength - STR, Stamina - STA, Dexterity - DEX, and Speed - SPE. Each stat actually represents the natural talents of each of the clans. Thunderclan is Strength, Riverclan is Stamina, Shadowclan is Dexterity, and Windclan is, of course, Speed.

DEFINITIONS

STR ;; Strength is your physical power, and affects your attack power and damage, as well as resilience to an attack.
STA ;; Stamina measures how much damage you can handle before going down, as well as how long you can keep fighting strong.
DEX ;; Dexterity measures how agile, nimble, and stealthy you are, as well as your reaction timing when faced with surprises.
SPE ;; Speed measures how fast you can run at top speed.

DESCRIPTIONS

STR

Your strength level can help you measure how much power you can put into a successful attack on another cat, such as a swipe, tackle, push, kick, or shove.
When you manage to land an attack on another cat without power-playing or god-modding, your Strength will be compared with that cat's STR, measuring his or her resilience.
When the attacker cat lands a hit, the attacker cat's Strength stat must be higher than the defending cat's STR by at least one star to execute full damage.
If the defending cat's STR is equal or higher in stars to the attacking cat's STR, the attack will do half damage.
If the defending cat decides to block the attack, or stop the attack with his or her body, the damage will be halved unless the defending cat's STR is half or less than the attacking cat's STR.

STA

Your stamina level will decide how long you can keep going at full strength and energy. Your STA also somewhat represents your Hit Points.
For each post that you attempt an attack, attempt to defend, attempt to dodge, sprint, or anything that requires more than an average amount of energy, you temporarily lose one STA star.
When you receive an attack from your opponent, your opponent's STR stars are the amount of STA stars temporarily lost in that fight.
If you successfully block your opponent's attack, meaning your STR is more than half of your opponent's STR, only half of your opponent's STR will be calculated into damage and temporary loss of your STA stars.
If your STR is equal or higher than your opponent's STR, representing great resilience and defence, you will only receive half damage.
If you lose all STA stars, then your stats, STR, DEX, and SPE are temporarily halved and rounded down to a full star, representing exhaustion, and forcing you to fight with halved stats for the rest of the battle, unless you rest.
Resting On your turn, meaning, your turn to post, you have the option to rest and regain back your temporarily lost STA stars. In order to rest, you simply must spend one post making no attacks, attempts to defend yourself, or sprint. Standing still, walking slowly, talking, lying down, and sitting down are all resting. After resting for a post, you receive one STA star, and your STR, DEX, and SPE stats will back to their normal levels until you use up all your STA stars again. During the time that you are resting, however, your opponent is free to attack you, and prevent you from regaining stamina, so maybe letting someone else handle your opponent while you rest is a good idea, or maybe running away from your opponent to find a safe place to rest could be another possibility.

DEX

Your dexterity level can help justify your abilities to react quickly to your opponent's movements, dodge your opponent's slower attacks, or strike critical hits more often.
Critical Hits When you have high DEX and your opponent has half or less in DEX, you may occasionally roleplay, describing a powerful attack achieved only through sharp precision and accuracy. This does double damage, doubling your STR stat upon landing a successful critical hit. Even with these options set in place, it is still prohibited to god-mode, kill or maim another person's character without that person's permission. You may only make one critical hit per three posts.
If your Dex is higher than your opponent's DEX, more of your attacks will land than their's. If your DEX is lower than your opponent's DEX, fewer of your attacks will land than their's. Please use good judgement in choosing to dodge, block, parry, or receive your opponent's attacks. We are encouraging creativity here!

SPE

Your speed level, simply put, will decide whether you're faster than, slower than, or somewhat even with any other cat. However, know that, encouraging creativity and imagination in your posts, any of these stats, STR, STA, DEX, SPE, can be overcome, even under great odds, when your wits are put to the test! A slower cat could devise a strategy of luring his or her opponent into the marsh to slow his opponent down, or chase his opponent through the woods, forcing the faster cat to slow down to avoid running into trees. Your SPE stat also can be used to judge whether you can get to the other cat before they can get to you first, or vice-versa. These stats are here to help, but not to judge everything, so have fun with it!

HOW IT WORKS

Starting

Newborns When creating a newborn, you start out with 0 stars!

Kits When creating a kit, you may assign as many stars as how old your kit is in moons, up to 6 moons.

Apprentices When creating an apprentice, you may assign as many stars as how old your apprentice is in moons, with a maximum of 10 stars given to apprentices of ages 10 + moons.

Warriors When creating a warrior, all cats start out with 12 stars to be assigned to each of the four stats, unless an extra star or two is bought in the Catnip Shop.

Deputies When creating a deputy character, your cat may start out with 12 stars, the same as a warrior.

Leaders When creating a leader character, your cat may start out with 15 stars, each extra star sort of representing three lives, therefore, if you choose to start out with less than nine lives, you could have anywhere from 1, 2, or 3 extra stars added onto the warrior's 12 stars.

Medicine Cats Starting medicine cat characters begin with 10 stars.

Medicine Cat Apprentices Starting medicine cat apprentices all begin with 6 stars, the equivalent of a kit ready to be apprenticed.

Graduating

Kits For each moon up to apprenticeship at 6 moons, kits will receive 1 star, representing innate talents and instincts.
That means that upon apprenticeship, most kits should have about 6 stars, just enough to know how to run, slap their siblings, catch their mother's tail, and all those other life lessons learned in the nursery.

Apprentices During apprenticeship, for every training thread, the apprentice can receive 3 stars, where each training thread must have at least three posts each coming from mentor as well as apprentice. This roughly means that for each training post, the apprentice receives a star.

Warriors In order to graduate from apprenticeship to warrior, a cat must have at least 12 stars, and be at least 8 moons in age.

Warriors, Deputies, Leaders From here on out, the 5SSS gets simpler. After becoming a warrior, or deputy your cat should have at least 12 stars, given to whatever stats you choose! Leaders receive 3 extra stars at their leadership ceremony, totaling to 15 stars upon character creation.
So, in order to get more stars, you'll have to buy them from the shop! Which in turn means that you must roleplay with your character in order to earn the Catnip to pay for them! Each star will cost 150 Catnip, roughly meaning that you should have made 15 roleplay posts~!

Medicine Cats Medicine cats don't receive extra stars unless bought in the Catnip Shop. In order to graduate from apprentice to medicine cat, the apprentice must have 10 stars, and be at least 8 moons of age.

Medicine Cat Apprentices Similar to the apprentice system, medicine cat apprentices start out with 6 stars, and must have at least two training or learning threads, where the apprentice is doing something, anything, medicine cat related: healing other cats, sorting herbs, picking herbs, learning about herbs from the mentor, in order to graduate to medicine cat. For each training thread with at least two posts between the medicine cat apprentice and another cat, the medicine cat apprentice receives 2 stars.
