Stormstar stirred in his nest, eyes focusing after opening for the first time that morning. The sun was just rising, shining off of bits of frost on some of the wind-swept grasses in the clearing. Stretching out his long legs, the tom yawned loudly before walking out into the first rays of morning sunlight. He stood motionless for a few moments before gracefully jumping up onto the Tallrock, which wasn't any effort at all. Stormstar gazed around the camp. A few cats had begun stirring, but it seemed that he was the first one awake. Which seemed about right, it was his job as leader to be up before everyone else. There were patrols to help sort out, and he was sure there were things that needed to be discussed. If anything, he could always go out hunting. That thought made him chuckle out loud. Seeing Stormstar successfully catch a piece of pray was always a surprise. Hey, everyone had their flaws, right? Smiling, the tom hoped that some of his warriors would wake up soon. He was in quite a good mood, and would enjoy conversing with someone else.

"Half a week before the winter," the chill bites before it comes, "and I'm a child of the pleasure" that he brings before he runs.
The direct light of the sun beat down on her eyelids, rudely awakening her from a blissful sleep. But she woke gently, was in no rush, and began to stretch her muscles while lying down among the other warriors under the open sky. Ever since she began obediently following Mooneye's directions to the whisker and eating all the right herbs, her morning sickness had eased within the past couple sunrises. Now it was no more than a dull "headache" in her abdomen -- too easy to ignore compared to before. Another thing bogging down on her list of personal obligations was the requirement to tell Stormstar about her and Ashfeather's future litter to come.
It was important for a leader to be aware of the conditions of all his clanmates so that he could make the best decisions for them and look out for his family. Swiftheart had planned on telling him every day up 'til now starting almost a quarter moon ago, but it was her bashfulness that kept her from working up the courage to speak to him. Swiftheart struggled to put into perfect wording her humble announcement, and hopefully a request to remain on warrior duties while she still could. Today, she promised with slightly harder resolution than the day before, she would tell him. And as if Starclan willed it, after a brief scan of her surroundings, she saw Stormstar awake before the others and moving towards the Tallrock.
She wanted to catch him before he jumped up and caught everyone else's attention, so the pale she-cat quietly hurried to her paws and began to pick her way around her sleeping clanmates. Too late. Stormstar's long legs glided him within moments to and up onto the Tallrock. Well, there was still time to speak to him one on one before the others woke up and gathered with anticipation of a clan meeting. She glanced up and tried to catch his eye before looking down to watch her step until she was at the foot of the Tallrock. "Stormstar, good morning." Swiftheart respectfully dipped her head and mewed a greeting, just audible enough that it could be heard from a short distance above the wind.
"If it's not a bad time, may I speak to you?" She felt her voice began to quiver, and her pelt began to prickle with the urgings of social anxiety. ey muse is not too bad c8 ★ 415 words ★ Stormstar tagged |
